Almost Time to Plant…

Rolling into the last week of February, things are starting to ramp up at AGG! After a short winter’s rest, the last month has been hopping with planning meetings, plot assignments, and making a new website which includes this blog! We’re excited to tell our story as another season gets underway.

Black Sand Company will be here soon with a new pile of soil (one of our garden manager’s favorite days of the year). From there, things will start moving very fast, as we clean up and refill our rental beds, host our first work days and welcome our gardeners back to the site. It might seem a bit cold still, but this is the perfect time for planting seeds for greens, lettuces, peas and root vegetables.

Our new gardeners will have a chance to orient themselves through online training materials, and a live tour and meeting later in March. We love getting to know new gardeners, no matter their experience level.

We still have a few beds left unclaimed, so get in touch! A season at AGG can be an incredibly rewarding experience. Get your hands in the soil, feel the sunshine on your shoulders, and relax with the gentle sounds of humming bees or the garden hose running. Grow some fresh produce and make new friends while volunteering.

If this sounds like just what you’re looking for, visit our Plot Rental page and send in a Plot Request!

This week’s weather is supposed to be a huge improvement over the month so far. While we wait for that to become the rule rather than the exception, please enjoy this gallery of photos from the 2020 season. Hope to see you out at the garden!
